With Department of Somethings we started with the thought of an empty pop up with nothing except us (and others - including potentially a magician) and people could walk in and we'd offer to help with a question, a thought or a dream.

This shifted into a couple of loose exhibitions in Margate with free newspapers, a chart of all the possible UK Government’s benefits and who's eligible, and an impact diagram for a local Community Interest Company (CIC) - who work with young people not in education, employment or training (NEET) to become trained in all aspects of the catering and hospitality world.

In June 2025, we made a short documentary on the changing Margate and how the town’s regeneration impacts, and is perceived by, different residents groups. The short is being pursued into longer form and is complemented by a physical publication.

We are currently focusing on working with and in Margate’s multiple communities, but are open to expanding our horizons as long as we are still giving more than receiving…
